The Bakers, a middle-class family with traditional family values, decide to adopt after the deadly 2010 Haiti Earthquake. This gesture fulfills their wish to "give back" and alleviates further infertility issues with matriarch Rebecca Baker. Nevertheless, their decision to expand their family through adoption, despite cultural and racial differences, is short-lived when an unexpected situation causes things to go awry.
